Hurricane Isaias
Hurricane Isaias is moving inland well west of us, but its outer bands could still affect Statesboro tonight and Saturday. The National Weather Service has placed Bulloch County under a Flood Watch through late Saturday night. Heavy downpours and a brief, isolated tornado are possible, especially Saturday afternoon. The overall risk to our area remains low, but conditions can change quickly.
Please take steps to be weather ready and aware:
- Sign up for emergency alerts. The City of Statesboro and Bulloch County use Everbridge to send severe weather warnings and other critical alerts. If you were signed up for our old CodeRED system, you will need to register again. Sign up at public.everbridge.net/sign-up?orgId=76864345342217.
- Have more than one way to get warnings. Keep your phone charged with Wireless Emergency Alerts turned on, and follow your local TV and radio stations or a NOAA Weather Radio.
- Stay informed. Get the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service in Charleston at weather.gov/chs and from the Bulloch County EMA.
- Use caution on the roads. Heavy downpours can cause standing water and poor visibility. Slow down, turn on your headlights, and avoid driving through water when you can.
- Secure outdoor items and watch for downed trees and power lines.

November 3, 2026 Election Information
On Tuesday, November 3, 2026, residents of City of Statesboro Council District 2 will vote in a special election to fill the vacant District 2 seat. Candidates appearing on the ballot are:
- Loletta Donaldson-Elliott
- Maleek Jones
- Kathleen Keehner

- Statewide offices, including U.S. Senate, Governor, and Lieutenant Governor

- Voter Registration Deadline: Monday, October 5, 2026

- Saturday Voting: October 17 and October 24, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Polling Place Change
Statesboro Precinct #11 has moved from the Old William James Complex to the Jones-Love Building at Luetta Moore Park, 585 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Street Closure- Max Lockwood Drive
Beginning August 17, Max Lockwood Drive will close for approximately 14 weeks to allow for major infrastructure upgrades, including drainage improvements, new curb and gutter, sidewalk construction, utility upgrades, and full reconstruction of the roadway pavement.
Honey Bowen Building, Playground & Tennis/Pickleball Courts
Access via the new entrance on Fair Road, just south of the Honey Bowen Building. Overflow parking is available in the grass area adjacent to the existing parking lot south of the building.
Restaurants & Shopping Center (adjacent to Max Lockwood Drive)
Access via the existing parking lot entrance/exit on Fair Road.
